Electric Dynamometer Selection Guide: Precise Matching Based on Power and Torque

When choosing an electric dynamometer based on the power and torque of the device under test, the principle of parameter matching, performance matching and function compatibility should be followed to ensure accurate and efficient testing.

1. Core parameter threshold matching

1) Power selection

The rated power of the dynamometer must be equal or greater than the maximum output power of the equipment. If overload conditions are involved, a power margin of 1.2-1.5 times should be reserved. Give priority to the energy feedback type dynamometer, which has an energy feedback efficiency of over 95% and can reduce energy consumption.

2) Torque adaptation

The rated torque of the dynamometer must be equal or greater than the maximum output torque of the equipment, distinguishing between static and dynamic torque: the dynamic peak can reach 2-3 times the rated value, so a model with shock resistance design and overload protection should be selected, and the torque measurement accuracy should be selected as required (e.g. Motor test should be less than or equal to ±0.5% FS).

2. Deep adaptation of operating characteristics

1) Speed matching

The maximum speed of the dynamometer should be over 10% higher than the maximum speed of the equipment to ensure a stable torque output throughout the entire speed range. For example, when the maximum speed of the equipment is 12,000 r/min, the dynamometer needs to reach over 13,200 r/min.

2) Dynamic response

For transient test scenarios (such as motor speed regulation), choose a model with a torque response time of no more than 50ms and support for adjustable moment of inertia to simulate real load characteristics.

3. Installation and performance assurance

1) Mechanical interface

The tolerance of the dynamometer shaft diameter matches that of the equipment shaft diameter (H7/k6), and high-rigidity couplings are selected to reduce transmission loss; The vibration intensity of the installation base is less than or equal to 2.5 mm/s to ensure rigid fixation.

2) Thermal management

Select the heat dissipation method based on the continuous operation duration: Water cooling is suitable for high-power continuous operation conditions, while air cooling is suitable for medium and small power short-term operation, ensuring that the temperature rise is less than or equal to 40K.

4. Control and precision requirements

Supports torque/speed dual-mode control and PID self-tuning for different test scenarios; Data acquisition frequency is equal or greater than 100Hz, sensor accuracy is equal or greater than ± 0.2%FS, to meet the requirements of high-precision testing.
