Installation and Maintenance Precautions for Magneto-electric Torque Sensors

Magneto-electric torque sensors, based on the electromagnetic induction principle, measure torque by detecting changes in the torsion angle of the elastic shaft. Due to their high anti-interference ability and fast response characteristics, they are widely used in electric dynamometers. Standard operation and maintenance are key to ensuring the accuracy and reliability of its measurement.

1. Installation points

Selection and compatibility: The rated parameters of the sensor should be matched based on the interface of the dynamometer acquisition system (such as CAN/RS485), the torque range of the device under test (with a safety margin of 120%-150% reserved), and the speed range to ensure compatibility of the signal protocol.

Installation process: When using key connection, expansion sleeve connection or flange connection, the coaxiality error must be less than or equal to 0.05mm, which can be calibrated with a laser alignment instrument; Tighten the connection at the manufacturer's specified torque (40-60 Nm for M10 bolts, for example) to avoid additional bending moment on the elastic shaft; Use double-shielded low capacitance cables, the cable length is controlled within a range where the signal attenuation is less than 3%, and install EMI filters at both ends to suppress electromagnetic interference.

2. Maintenance specifications

Routine inspection: Monitor the peak-to-peak fluctuations of the sensor output signal (normal: less than or equal to ±5% FS), check the pretightening force of the installation bolts (regular retests should be conducted using a torque wrench), clean the magnetic impurities such as iron filings on the surface of the Hall element to prevent magnetic circuit distortion.

Periodic calibration: Perform full-range calibration every 6-12 months using a ± 0.05%FS level standard torquer, with a focus on verifying the sensitivity temperature drift (less than or equal to ±0.03% FS / ° C) and zero-time drift (less than or equal to ± 0.1%FS / year) indicators; Synchronously detect signal transmission delay (should be less than 1ms) and harmonic distortion (less than 0.5%), and replace the sensing element when out of deviation.

Following the above technical specifications can effectively reduce the uncertainty of sensor measurement and ensure the long-term stable operation of the electric dynamometer system.
